Vietnam Visa-Free Entry: 12 Countries Granted 3-Year Visa Exemption
Vietnam has officially introduced a visa-free entry policy for citizens of 12 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. This Vietnam visa exemption will allow travelers from these nations to enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days per visit.
Vietnam Visa-Free Entry Policy Details
On March 7, 2025, the Vietnamese government issued a resolution granting visa-free travel to Vietnam for eligible citizens. The Vietnam visa exemption applies to all passport types and entry purposes, provided visitors meet Vietnam’s immigration requirements.
The visa-free entry to Vietnam will take effect from March 15, 2025, and remain valid until March 14, 2028. The policy may be extended based on further government reviews.
Additional Vietnam Visa Exemptions in 2025
In addition to the 12 visa-exempt countries, Vietnam has also granted visa-free entry to citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland. This exemption is valid from March 1 to December 31, 2025.
Vietnam Expands Visa Policies to Boost Tourism
The move to expand Vietnam visa-free travel aligns with the government’s strategy to attract more international visitors. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism are working on optimizing Vietnam’s visa policy, including potential visa exemptions for additional countries and high-net-worth individuals.
Vietnam Tourism Growth in 2024
With an improved Vietnam visa policy, the country expects a surge in tourism:
- 17.5 million international visitors projected in 2024 (a 38.9% increase from 2023).
- 110 million domestic trips, up 1.6% year-over-year.
- Tourism revenue estimated at 840 trillion VND (approx. $33 billion), a 23.8% growth compared to 2023.
The expansion of Vietnam’s visa-free travel policy reinforces the country’s position as a top global travel destination. With a strong post-pandemic recovery, Vietnam tourism continues to be a key driver of economic growth.
